National Geographic - video featuring black bear field study course http://www.bearstudy.org/website/component/content/article/25/128-nat-geo-video.html http://www.bearstudy.org/website/component/content/article/25/128-nat-geo-video.html Producer/videographer Lia Kvatum attended the May 10-13, 2009 Black Bear Field Study Course.

The bear 'kissing' Lynn Rogers in this video is not a wild bear.  Ted E. Bear is a captive born and raised bear who now resides at the North American Bear Center (www.bear.org).  Although Ted is perhaps the largest black bear in the world, he would rather lick your face than eat and he is particularly fond of Lynn.

Extreme Animals - hibernation http://www.bearstudy.org/website/component/content/article/25/130-extreme-animals-hibernation.html http://www.bearstudy.org/website/component/content/article/25/130-extreme-animals-hibernation.html Steve Leonard is in the USA to see at first hand a wild wide awake hibernating black bear called Blackheart. Does this awesome skill of hibernation, where no food or liquid has been consumed for six long months, qualify the black bear as an Extreme Animal? Cute baby cubs are found inside the warm den.
